At Sumerian Scriptum Synthesis Publisher (SSSP), we take pride in publishing high-quality works that meet both literary and academic standards. Our peer review process is designed to ensure that each manuscript we publish is thoroughly evaluated by experts in the field, guaranteeing that our books are both original and engaging. Below, we outline the steps of our peer review process.

  1. Manuscript Submission
  2. Authors are invited to submit their manuscripts for review through our online submission portal. Please ensure that your manuscript is in the following format:

    • File type: .docx or .pdf
    • Word count: unlimited
    • Cover letter: Include a brief description of your book, target audience, and writing credentials (if applicable).
Upon submission, our editorial team will review your manuscript for initial suitability. If your manuscript meets our guidelines, we will proceed with the peer review process.

  3. Initial Evaluation
Our editorial team will conduct a preliminary evaluation to ensure your manuscript aligns with our publishing standards. We assess: the relevance and originality of the content. Writing quality and structure. Market fit for the target audience. If the manuscript passes this initial evaluation, it is sent for peer review. If it does not meet our standards, we will notify you promptly with feedback.
  4. Selection of Reviewers
We carefully select peer reviewers based on their expertise and experience in the subject matter of your manuscript. Reviewers may include:
Professionals with a track record of publishing or editing in relevant genres.
  5. The Peer Review Process
Once your manuscript is assigned to reviewers, the process typically unfolds as follows:
Review Period: Each reviewer will evaluate the manuscript over a period of 4-6 weeks. We ask them to assess:
    • For Fiction: Plot development, character depth, pacing, and readability.
    • For Non-Fiction: Accuracy, clarity, organization, and quality of sources.
Reviewer Feedback: Reviewers provide detailed written feedback, highlighting both strengths and areas for improvement. They may suggest revisions regarding structure, content, or writing style.
  6. Author Revisions
Based on the reviewer feedback, we may request revisions to improve the manuscript. We believe in working closely with authors to ensure that the final product is the best version of their work. Our editors will guide you through this process, and authors typically have 4-8 weeks to resubmit revised manuscripts.
  7. Final Review and Decision
After receiving the revised manuscript, the editorial team and reviewers will assess whether the revisions address the feedback effectively. Once all concerns have been addressed, we make the final decision:
    • Accepted for Publication: If the manuscript meets our quality standards, we proceed with publication.
    • Further Revisions Needed: In some cases, additional revisions may be required.
    • Rejected: If the manuscript does not meet the necessary standards, it may be rejected. We will provide constructive feedback to help guide your next steps
  8. Post-Review Process:
If your manuscript is accepted, our editorial team will work with you through the next stages of editing, design, and production. You will be involved in all stages, ensuring the final product is aligned with your vision.
  9. Ethical Standards
We are committed to maintaining high ethical standards throughout our peer review process:
    • Confidentiality: All manuscript submissions and reviewer feedback are confidential.
    • Objectivity: Reviewers are expected to provide unbiased feedback, focusing solely on the quality of the manuscript.
    • Conflict of Interest: Reviewers are required to disclose any potential conflicts of interest with the author or manuscript.
